The Tropical Technology Consortium is organized in two tiers, an administrative group and a technical group. The administrative group provides direction and support to identify and prioritize activities. The technical group adapts, validates, develops and diffuses appropriate resource management technologies to NRCS staff and partners. It also designs and implements natural resource management activities that address locally developed needs. Both groups include NRCS staff from the Caribbean Area, Florida, Hawaii, and the Pacific Islands Area and from the Land Grant universities located in these regions. Additionally, the Tropical Technology Consortium works in collaboration with other entities working on tropical resource management as appropriate.

Tropical Technology Consortium-generated information, technologies and other products will be user-needed, user-friendly and science-based. They will support, supplement or replace existing Field Office Technical Guide (FOTG) tools. Together, they provide the foundation for the development and maintenance of a healthy and sustainable environment in the US-affiliated tropical regions.
