WIN-PST Evaluation (EQIP and WHIP)

Adoption and continued use of appropriate pest management practices as outlined in NRCS Standard 595 as part of a conservation can be supported by NRCS cost-share programs and is one of the eligibility criteria for the new Conservation Security Program.

The NRCS Pest Management Standard requires the use of the Windows Pesticide Screening Tool (WIN-PST) or other equivalent tool to assess the risk that a given pesticide may contaminate ground or surface waters. This Tropical Technology Consortium project evaluated WIN-PST and determined that WIN-PST is an appropriate tool for use in tropical areas.
